Hamleys unveils its Christmas 2021 Best Toys List

Christmas 2020 came round in a year unlike any other, where lockdown effectively cancelled the festive season, resigning it to the realm of the virtual.

We are celebrating the return to a “normal” Christmas period – and it is with that in mind that Hamleys has curated its gifting options.

The legendary Regent’s Street toy shop has revealed its annual top toys list, giving parents everywhere an indication of what will be the most covetable playthings during the holidays and taking the guesswork out of the shopping process.

The selection focuses on bringing the whole family together and most importantly, having fun together.

Role-playing and creativity dominate the predictions, where screen-based games are pushed aside in favor more social, educational, traditional toys that will bring back the magic of Christmas.

Victoria Kay, head for buying at Hamleys, explains. “We all had a tough time last Christmas, separated from family and friends, using Zoom or Teams, so the toys are inspired to get everybody back together.”

The curation ensures there is something for everyone, with a nod towards classic games so that even adults can get involved. Kay says: “We stock over 13,000 products, so we’ve made sure that there’s a nice breadth and something for everyone, whether preschool, or slightly older.”

Hamleys has taken great measures to ensure stock availability despite all the talk about shortages. “We know Christmas is coming”She says. “So we start to build stock from March onwards to make sure that there is product in all of our stores”.
